The farm and our commitment to the
preservation of local ecology

To The Trees is attached to a working farm which is now focussed on a long term commitment to preserve and enhance the very diverse ecology,  unique to the area. The farm started as a blank canvas arable holding in 1989 and has seen continuous tree planting and wetland creations successfully encouraging wildlife over the years.  Natural establishment of diverse wild flowers in the wetlands and fields has taken place and these are available for our guests to appreciate.

We have created wide channel ditches which help to produce a varied habitat for herbaceous plants and a perfect water vessel for the European eel

We have intentionally created wetlands to provide a sheltered amphibian environment and protection for ground nesting birds

Wildlife you might bump into at the farm

The tree corridors support and feed an expanded bat population and the species rich grassland and wild flower meadows support increasing butterfly and chafer beetle population. The wetlands have encouraged both winter and summer wader visitors, notably the greenshank. Each year the intention is to plant more and create further nature corridors to increase biodiversity support and further exclusive guest experience.
